Inspired by many dancefloors, this zine aims to capture the essence of these spaces, inviting submissions from every aspect - attempts to document the emotive, spiritual, body-mind experience lived through each stomp, step, twirl, jack, spin, zapateado, and hand flourish. We attempt to grasp at the divine and dirty through written language and/or visual interpretation, which may take the form of poetry, creative nonfiction, journaling, comics, illustration, photography, photo collage, etc. No fiction at this time, please.
The dancefloor can be a space for magic and transformation, and transformation can be a messy process. Welcome are reflections from any point in that process, so long as they are real. Have you had a profound conversation with a previous stranger? A meeting with grief and shadow? An ecstatic experience? What do you take with you from the dancefloor? What do you leave behind? Perhaps nihilism has been there, too. These experiences are all invited here.
Dancefloors are interpreted as any ground where dance is held.
